Sikkim today successfully observed ‘A Day for Mother Earth’ with a coordinated seven-minute halt of vehicular movement across the state. From 11:00 AM to 11:07 AM, vehicles remained stationary as a symbolic gesture to raise awareness about climate change and environmental protection.

The annual initiative, first launched in 2019 by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), aims to inspire collective responsibility toward preserving nature. Emergency and essential service vehicles were exempted during the pause.

Traffic police across the state ensured smooth implementation, while citizens and various stakeholders actively supported the cause. The event served as a reminder of the urgent need to address global warming and promote sustainable practices.

Sikkim once again demonstrated its commitment to environmental stewardship through this meaningful observance.
