Heavy rainfall forecast in Sikkim as monsoon reaches Northeast.

Advancing further, the Southwest Monsoon covered the northeast region, nearly four days after its normal date, India. 

RK Jenamani, senior scientist, NWFC Said “Monsoon is advancing very well. It has advanced to Sikkim and parts of Maharashtra 4 to 5 days in advance. The monsoon flow is strong and southwesterly winds have picked up on a large scale” 

There will be likely heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh on June 6 and 8 June.

And around Assam, Meghalaya, and upper Himalayas of West Bengal and Sikkim on 8th June and 9th June.

Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura on 6th June and 7th June.

Odisha on 8th June and 9th June Gangetic West Bengal on 10th June. Strong surface winds (25-35 kmph) are likely to prevail over the plains of northwest India during 8th and 10th June. 

IMD has classified that the progress is going to slow over the next two days, i.e 7th June and 8th June.

Sikkim has been witnessing heavy rainfall since yesterday morning causing heavy damage in Gangtok areas due to landslides. It’s also reported that landslide appeared in Some parts of North Sikkim which also caused east and north connecting bridge.
