Tezpur 23 December 2022: Tezpur University Teachers’ Association (TUTA) today felicitated Dr. Juri Dutta, Assistant Professor in the Department of Assamese, Tezpur University for bagging the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award for the year 2022 for translating the Malayalam novel Kocharethi written by Narayan in 1998 into Assamese Kocharethi: Araya Nari that was published in the year 2018.
The felicitation programme was attended by all the executive members of TUTA along with other faculty members from the university. Secretary, TUTA, Dr. Pranjal Gogoi welcomed all the members and congratulated Dr. Dutta for winning the prestigious award and mentioned that her achievement is a proud moment for the University fraternity. President of TUTA, Professor Debendra Chandra Baruah said Dr. Dutta’s hard work and sincere effort has resulted in her achievement and the news should spread far and wide so that all the stakeholders including the students of the university get an inspiration from her achievement.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Juri Dutta said she was overwhelmed with the response received from the University fraternity and thanked TUTA members for organizing this felicitation programme and said it would inspire her to continue to work for the betterment of the Department, the University and the community at large.
Vice President of TUTA, Dr. Utpal Bora also praised Dr. Dutta for her work and shared his experience of a couple of instances where he had closely worked with Dr Dutta and learned how sincere and hard-working Dr. Dutta is. Dr. Sanjeev Pol Deka, Assistant Professor in the Department of Assamese of Tezpur University and winner of Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar in 2019 was also present in the event and expressed his appreciation of her work and shared his experience of working with Dr. Dutta as a colleague in the Department. Professor Debarshi Prasad Nath of the Department of Cultural Studies and spouse of Dr Juri Dutta also spoke a few words on how Dr. Dutta inspires him with her disciplined life and work life balance.
