Man Crushed to Death by Fallen Tree at Gangtok Bypass Construction Site

A man lost his life this afternoon after being crushed by a falling tree at the under-construction two-lane Gangtok Bypass road from Ranipool to Burtuk, near Rawtey, Rumtek.

The incident occurred between 3:00 PM and 3:30 PM. The deceased has been identified as Santosh Giri, aged approximately 45 years. A tree reportedly fell and struck him while he was passing by the area. Two children were seen crying beside him at the time of the incident.

Giri was rushed to STNM Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival. A post-mortem is scheduled, and the police have begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
