" Emparta Infrastructures building in Siliguri"
The Government of Sikkim’s Urban Development Department has announced an extension of the ban on excavation for construction works in all notified areas of the state. This decision, detailed in Notice No. 784/UDD/Secy dated August 29, 2024, is in continuation of the previous Notice No. 737/UDD/Secy issued on March 26, 2024. The extension is necessitated by unpredictable climatic conditions and variant rainfall patterns currently affecting the region.
Initially, the ban was set to last from May 1, 2024, to August 31, 2024. However, the latest directive extends the restriction until September 15, 2024. The ban is enforced under the Sikkim Allotment of House Sites and Construction of Building (Regulation and Control) Act, 1985, to ensure safety and mitigate potential risks posed by the adverse weather.
All terms and conditions outlined in the original notice will remain in effect until the new deadline. Citizens and construction entities are urged to comply with this extended ban to ensure public safety and environmental protection.
