83rd Nar Bahadur Bhandari Jayanti Celebration commences at Soreng District


The State Level 83rd Nar Bahadur Bhandari Jayanti Celebration commenced with the Inter-College Debate Competition held at the Auditorium Hall of Government Senior Secondary School Soreng today.

The event was attended by Shri Aditya Golay, Area MLA Soreng-Chakung Constituency as the Chief Guest in the special presence of Shri CP Sharma, Press Advisor to HCM, Smt. Tila Devi Gurung, Zilla Adhakshya Soreng, Shri Bhim Thatal, District Collector Soreng, Shri Gaayas Pega, ADC (Dev.), Shri KB Chettri, CEO Soreng, Shri Dilip Sharma, DPO (Zilla), officers, teachers and students.

Addressing the house, Shri Golay offered deep gratitude towards the organising committee for organising the event as part of the Bhandari Jayanti Celebration. He then congratulated all the participants for taking part in the celebration. Further, he touched on a town hall and its importance while stating that it is an absolute necessity of Soreng.

Shri CP Sharma in his initial note welcomed the guests and all the present to the opening day of the 83rd Nar Bahadur Bhandari Jayanti Celebration. He then briefed the house regarding the day’s significance and the contribution made by Shri Bhandari in the past.

Concluding his speech he made an appeal to the people to take part in the NBBJ to witnessed the celebration on October 5.

The day saw a debate competition between the following colleges:

The First Round on theme “Bartaman Pariveshma Samajik Sanjaal, Yuva Pidi Ma Ghatak Bandai Jandai Cha/Chaina” witnessed a debating skills between Government Sanskrit College Samdong (Against) and Government Science College Chakung (For).

The Second Round on theme “Wekritima Lageko Adhunik Samajlai Susanskrit Parna Bakti Krantiko Jarurat Cha/Chaina” between Sancha Man Limboo Government College, Gyalshing (For) and Government Arts College, Mangsila (Against).

After a competitive debate, Government Sanskrit College Samdong and Sancha Man Limboo Government College, Gyalshing advanced to the next round.

Mr. Bhupen Timsina (Government Sanskrit College Samdong) and Ms. Binita Kami (Sancha Man Limboo Government College, Gyalshing) were awarded the Best Speakers of the day.
