Closure of Meat Shops in Sikkim from Today Onward

Closure of Meat Shops in Sikkim from February 28, 2025, to March 14, 2025.

In line with religious and cultural observances, all meat shops in Sikkim will remain closed from today, February 28, 2025, through March 14, 2025. During this period, the sale and slaughter of poultry and livestock are prohibited throughout the state.

This decision has been made to support the respect of local customs and traditions. Authorities are urging all residents to comply with these restrictions.

The Ecclesiastical Department has also instructed the public to report any violations to the local police, the Ecclesiastical Department, or the Animal Husbandry Department for swift action.
