In a routine police checkpoint at the old Rangpo checkpost, a 22-year-old meat and fish seller, Jishan Raja, was arrested after being found in possession of illegal items. Raja, originally from Kishanganj, Bihar, and residing in IBM Rangpo, was intercepted by police with 272 Spasmoproxyvon tablets, 2 gold bracelets, a gold chain, a gold ring, 2 empty bullet shells (7.65mm), 2 live bullets (7.65mm), and a silver-colored pistol made in the USA (serial number 11).
The items were seized, photographed, and sealed in the presence of witnesses and gazetted officers. The arrest has led to a case registered under the Sikkim Anti-Drugs Act (SADA) and the Arms Act. Investigations are ongoing to determine the origin and intended use of the illegal substances and firearm.
