Pakyong Airport Set for Major Nepal Airline Operations

Pakyong Airport is gearing up to expand its operations with incoming flights from major airlines, including Buddha Air, Blade Air, Jetwing, Indigo, and SpiceJet, connecting Sikkim to various parts of India, according to AAI Director Sanjeev Kumar Singh. Buddha Air, a leading private airline from Nepal, is planning to launch flights from Kathmandu to Pakyong, as mentioned on June 13, pending approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

Buddha Air will operate two daily flights: a direct Kathmandu-Pakyong route and another with a stopover in Guwahati. The direct flight is expected to take about one hour, while the Pakyong-Guwahati segment will be around 35 minutes.

This new route is expected to significantly boost tourism, improving accessibility between Nepal and Sikkim. Passengers can also enjoy breathtaking views of Kanchenjunga, the world’s third-highest peak, particularly as winter brings clearer skies, making the experience even more remarkable.
