Roselene Subba Suicide Case, One AE arrested

Today, Sadar Police Gangtok have arrested Mr. Sunil Rai, Assistant Engineer (AE) Horticulture Department in connection with Roselene Subba’s suicide case.

It is reported that the accused had incited the victim to commit suicide. The 30-year-old victim had committed suicide on 3rd June at Forest Colony, after which a case had been registered in Sardar Police station regarding an unnatural death. It was later found that a friend of the victim came from Delhi and registered a statement at Gangtok court under section 164 CRPC.

The victim’s friend had stated and provided proof that her friend was a victim of extortion, mental abuse and blackmail by the accused Sunil Rai.

It was due to this reason that she had taken up the step of suicide. After her statement at court, Sadar Police converted the case of Roselene Subba as a criminal case and registered it under IPC section 306 and 383. Meanwhile, the accused had moved to the court for Anticipatory Bail which has been rejected today. The accused has been arrested from his residence at Burtuk, East Sikkim.
