Olympic 2020: PV Sindhu loses in her semifinals

Reigning world champion PV Sindhu’s who had been winning continuously in Tokyo Olympics 2020 of securing India’s first-ever Olympic gold in badminton came crashing down. She slumped to a straight-game defeat against world no.1 Tai Tzu-Ying of Chinese Taipei in the women’s singles semifinals today.

The 26-year-old silver-medalist from the Rio Games, while she will fight for the bronze medal tomorrow and will be competing He Bingjiao and hope that she will win a bronze medal for India on Sunday.

PV Sindhu won her first match against Ksenia Polikarpova 21-7, 21-10. Then the second match against Denmark’s Mia Blichfeldt. Lastly, the third match against Japanese Akane Yamaguchi made her step into the semifinals in Olympic 2020. However, she couldn’t secure a gold medal for India. Huge loss and disappointment for team India.

The numbers two seed Tzu-Ying proceeded from where she left off in the primary game and in spite of Sindhu tossing her absolute best chances, it was sufficiently not and the Indian shuttler lost the semi-last conflict in straight games. The whole match went on for 40 minutes.

On Friday, Sindhu had burst into the semi-finals of the ladies’ singles occasion in the wake of overcoming Japan’s number four seed Akane Yamaguchi in the quarterfinals.
