Indian wrestler Priya Malik successfully clinched gold in the World Cadet Wrestling Championships on Sunday. She defected from her Belarus rival Kseniya Patapovich 5-0.
Another day and another win for India. Wrestler Priya Malik won gold at the world wrestling championship which was held in Hungary, Budapest by defeating Belarus’s Kseniya Patapovich by 5-0. She won in the 73kg category. This is a piece of big news for all the sports fans and for all over India in winning gold at the international level. Yesterday Mirabai Charu won silver in Olympic Tokyo 2020 and now this gold by another woman on another day.
Priya Malik won the women’s 73 kg weight category gold medal by getting the better of Belarus wrestler Kseniya Patapovich 5-0 in the final. Priya Malik’s ‘golden’ triumph comes a day after the champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu had clinched silver in the Women’s 49kg category in Tokyo Olympics.
No doubt Indian Women are making India proud all over the world by giving their best performances at the international level.
Priya Malik is from Haryana and the entire Haryana is proud of her winning. The sports minister of Haryana Sandeep Singh too congratulated her.
Priya Malik’s gold medal win in Budapest is no mean feat as she has been striking gold on a regular basis. Priya Malik has won the gold medal in the 2019 edition of Khelo India in Pune and then went on to clinch gold in the very same year at the 17th School Games that were held in Delhi. Apart from these wins, Priya also won two more gold medals the following year i.e. 2020.
Meanwhile, it has also been learned that by the virtue of this outstanding win, Priya Malik has also become the first athlete to win a gold medal for India in World Wrestling Championship.
