On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Government Primary School, Tumin Barang, East Sikkim, a free medical camp was organized by NHPC Teesta-V Power Station at the school premises. The camp was inaugurated by Shri Jitendra Kumar, Executive Director, Regional Office, Siliguri and Head of Power station, Teesta-V Power Station.
On the occasion, Shri Jitendra Kumar stated that organizing such medical camps for the health and well-being of the local community is an important part of NHPC’s social commitment. He emphasized that such initiatives are undertaken to make essential healthcare services accessible to people, particularly in rural and remote areas.
A total of 130 patients underwent health check-ups during the medical camp. Various healthcare services, including General Medicine, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Orthopaedics and Physiotherapy, were provided. Blood sugar testing was also conducted, and free medicines were distributed to patients following medical consultation.
At the camp, Dr. M.P. Sharma (Gynaecologist), Dr. Buddha Tamang (Medicine Specialist), Dr. Mayel P. Leocha (Ophthalmologist), Dr. Bishal Chettri (Orthopaedic Specialist) and Ms. Parbati Sapkota (Optometrist) from District Hospital, Singtam provided their services. From NHPC Teesta-V Power Station, CMO Dr. Naveen Kumar and Dr. Lekshmi C.A. provided ENT and General Medicine consultations and medical examinations to the patients.
Local residents and members of the school community participated in the camp and availed themselves of the healthcare services provided. Through the organization of the camp, NHPC reaffirmed its commitment towards the health and well-being of the local community.
