"Sikkim Governor Meets PM Modi"
Sikkim Governor Om Prakash Mathur held key meetings in New Delhi on Friday, including a significant discussion with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to address the state’s pressing developmental and strategic concerns. The engagements took place in the context of Sikkim’s golden jubilee celebrations marking 50 years of statehood.
During the meeting at 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, Governor Mathur updated PM Modi on infrastructure, education, tourism, and socio-economic progress in the state. The interaction followed PM Modi’s virtual address during the ‘Sikkim@50’ celebrations on May 29, where he commended Sikkim’s harmonious growth model and pledged to visit soon.
Governor Mathur also met Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar to review developmental initiatives and their impact on the welfare of the people. He later conferred with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on regional security and the state’s defence preparedness, especially in light of the recent natural disaster in Mangan district, where army personnel tragically lost their lives.
