The Lok Sabha on Tuesday passed the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, aimed at strengthening measures against examination malpractices and protecting the integrity of public examinations across the country.

Hailing the passage of the Bill, the government said the legislation seeks to safeguard the dreams and aspirations of millions of students by introducing stringent provisions and severe penalties against individuals involved in unfair practices, including paper leaks and examination fraud.

The Centre asserted that it remains committed to ensuring transparency and fairness in the examination system and warned that those attempting to compromise the future of students would face strict legal consequences.

The Bill is expected to further strengthen the framework for preventing irregularities in public examinations and enhance confidence in the country’s recruitment and education systems.
