Agriculture Minister handed equipment to farmer

Pakyong, Dec 31 (IPR) More than 150 farmers of Chujachen constituency were handed over numerous facilities of Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services departments on the eve of new year 2022. Besides, 528 households of Sudunglakha (203) and Aritar GPU (325) will also be benefited under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayi Yojana. The benefits were distributed in an awareness cum token distribution programme organised by Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services Departments, at the Community Hall, near Rongli Bazar, today.

The programme was graced by the Minister for Agriculture, Horticulture, and AH&VS Shri Lok Nath Sharma, as the Chief Guest in special presence of the Area MLA, Shri K.B Rai and MLA Rhenock constituency Shri Bishnu Kumar Khatiwara.

The program also had the presence of Chairman OBC Board, Shri Nirpat Gurung, Secretary, Agriculture, Shri Rinzing C Bhutia, Secretary Horticulture Shri BB Subba, Director AH&VS Shri Ghana Shyam Sharma, Additional Directors, Joint Directors, Sub Divisional Megistrate Rongli Shri DS Subba, BDO Rhenock Shri Ram Kumar Gurung, BDO Regu Shri Sawan R. Dhakal, officials, field functionaries, beneficiaries, farmers and others.

Minister Shri Sharma handed over Agricultural tools and machinery equipments including Power tiller, Garden hand tools, Spices grinder, power wedder, chaff cutter, brush cutter,mini rice mill to eighty four beneficiaries under agriculture department.

Twenty beneficiaries received token of Functional pack house, Tubular Structure green house, Low cost green house, Pulverizer grinder machine, under Horticulture Department.

Similarly, fourteen farming household received tokens of Goattery, Sheep farming and Chaff cutter under Animal Husbandry.

Also, thirty one applicants from the constituency were given subsidized loans of Rupees fifty one lakh under Development Through Credit.

Minister Shri Sharma, in his address, drew light on the indispensable need of agriculture and livestock farming for sustainable human society.

He articulated an enormous range of future scope in agricultural farming and persuaded gathering to be truly determined to adopt the lucrative profession of farming, sustainably.

Shri Sharma also elaborated path-breaking initiatives of the state government to provide financial incentives, including Mukhya Mantri Krishi Atmanirbhar Yojana, Mukhya Mantri Pashudhan Samridhi Yojana, Mukhya Mantri Matshya Sampada Yojana. While articulating on the financial benefits of Rs 8/litre of milk, Rs 15000/- for rearing minimum of three pigs of 50 KG each, 60% subsidy under Matsya Sampada Yojana, etc. he added that the Chief Minister has envisioned and implemented exemplary farming centric schemes to make them self reliant and economically uplifted.

He also reminisced year-long journey of the departments with the accomplishments of notable achievements to uplift farmers. He also extended gratitude to the Chief Minister for his far sighted vision and implementation of historic schemes for the welfare of the farming community at large.

He also mentioned that the ruling government successfully executed tremendous exercise and eventually, at present, eleven thousand farmers of Sikkim have been receiving Rupees Six Thousand on annual basis under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Samman Nidhi Yojana.

He also acknowledged constant cooperation of Banking sector in providing subsidized loan with the launching of “Development Through Credit” programme. He also informed that a total of Rupees Sixteen Crore have been received by One Thousand One Hundred and Thirty farmers under Development Through Credit, till the end of this year.

He also emphasized on the developmental works carried out under the leadership of the Chief Minister in health sector, rural development, establishment of infrastructure, entrepreneurship development and in many other sectors.

The Minister also threw light on technicalities of soilless culture of Hydroponic and Acquaponic concept of Agriculture farming.

He said that significant credit can be given to the farming community for the recent increase in GSDP of Sikkim, for their relentless effort and hardship.He also announced for the establishment of community water tank of Thirty Thousand litres in the dried region of the constituency.

Minister Shri Sharma, in his concluding remarks, extended best wishes and warm greetings of new year 2022 and also urged to work with renewed energy and new vigour to make Sikkima self reliant state in Agriculture, Horticulture and Livestock farming sectors.Earlier, Minister Shri Lok Nath Sharma visited an integrated private farm of Shri Moses Lepcha at Docksing in Rhenock constituency.
