NIT Sikkim Inaugurates Campus ATM

ATM for students as well as General Public.


The National Institute of Technology Sikkim has partnered with Union Bank of India to install an ATM at the Institute campus at Ravangla South Sikkim. The ATM has been installed as a part of the Community Development Initiative of NIT Sikkim keeping in view the lack of banking and ATM facilities for the public of Barfung block of Ravangla and also for the faculty staff and students of NIT Sikkim. The ATM shall be accessible to all and has been constructed in a convenient location to enable 24-hour availability.

The ATM was inaugurated by Prof Mahesh Chandra Govil, Director NIT Sikkim in presence of Mr Pankaj Sharma, Branch Manager, Union bank of India Namchi branch, Registrar, Deans, Faculty and staff of NIT Sikkim. Director NIT Sikkim thanked union bank of India for their partnership in establishment of the ATM and said that the ATM would be beneficial to the people of Ravangla who must travel several kilometres to Ravangla town just to withdraw cash from the ATM. He also stressed on the need for financial literacy and money management in the modern world and that the last mile accessibility of banking facilities through installation of such ATMs and bank branches in remote locations would lead to increased connectivity and integration with the rest of the country.

The premises for the ATM which was constructed by NIT Sikkim at an Approximate cost of Rs 4 Lakhs has been provided to Union Bank of India. The Director NIT Sikkim has committed to undertake further efforts in the local area development along with provision of wholesome Technical Education at NIT Sikkim to the students from all over the country.
