As part of a nationwide programme under the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), Prime Minister Narendra Modi today disbursed incentives worth ₹2,400 crore to more than 15 lakh beneficiaries across India from Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
In Sikkim, the regional event was held at Sikkim Manipal University, Gangtok, and was attended by Shri Bhim Hang Limboo, Minister for Labour and Housing & Building Department, as the Chief Guest. The programme saw participation from over 300 attendees, including 168 beneficiaries, 84 employers, industry representatives, public officials, and EPFO personnel.
During the event, employers handed over 168 employment letters to newly recruited workers.
Beneficiaries shared how the scheme helped them secure formal employment with social security coverage, while employers appreciated the government’s initiative to support both job seekers and businesses.
PM-VBRY is a flagship Employment-Linked Incentive scheme aimed at encouraging formal employment and supporting first-time workforce entrants. Under the scheme, eligible employees receive up to ₹15,000 as one month’s wage support, while employers are incentivized for generating additional jobs, with extended benefits available for the manufacturing sector.
